Weekend Recap
I missed a post yesterday. It was a busy day and I couldn't carve out any time to blog.
The day started out with some much-needed sleeping in because I had stayed up too late the night before finishing Dead of Winter by Darcy Coates. I've set a goal for myself to try to read all of Darcy Coates' books, which is quite a task as she's written upwards of 30. Her books are so fun, though. Not literary masterpieces by any means, but they're well-written, full of action, and just a blast to read. I can fly through them really quickly, and after I'm done I'm always left with a warm fuzzy feeling. It's good cozy-comfy horror.
One of our friends had a birthday party at his house yesterday, so after waking up and feeding Ranni, we headed over there and hung out for a while. It was nice catching up with everyone.
After the party, we went to see Weapons at the cinema. I loved it! I purposely avoided any spoilers or anything about the movie, and I was pleasantly surprised. It was much more comedic than I was expecting, and it did a great job blending humor and horror. It was shot beautifully as well, and all of the actors' performances were top notch. A really solid horror film. Not quite on the same level of Sinners, but I enjoyed it more than Longlegs.
When we got back home, it was pretty late. I read some of Vampires of El Norte and then went right to sleep. Today so far I've just been doing festival stuff in Lord of the Rings Online, and I hope to read some more chapters of my book. It's been a good weekend! Just the kind of mixture of activity and relaxation that I like.
