The Luck Log

I found these three journal prompts that together are called "The Luck Log" and thought they would make for a good Blaugust post.

Something you're grateful for

I'm grateful for the opportunities I've received to write about games, and I'm grateful that people see something in my writing enough to give me a platform sometimes. When I write in this blog, it's free-flowing and often quick, and I don't put as much thought into it as I do my more critical writing. When I write about games, it's because I have an idea that I want to explore in-depth or I have a thoughtful review to delve into. I put a lot of myself into those pieces, and I'm really proud of them.

Something good that happened in the last 24 hours

Tiny Bookshop released! I've been waiting for this game. When I finished the demo, I felt like I'd never wanted to keep playing a game as much as I did then. I feel slightly uncomfortable with "capitalism simulators" sometimes, but one thing I love about Tiny Bookshop is that it promotes secondhand shopping -- and it's books! You're selling books! It's so charming with a great narrative thread behind the bookstore management aspects. I played about two hours of it earlier on my break and I'm loving it so far.

Something negative that's stopped happening

I've stopped being as stressed at my day job. I was working in a position that was too much for one person, and it was hard to stay afloat. Luckily, my supervisors recognized that and gave me a different workload, and it's been so much nicer. I'm actually staying caught up with work, which hasn't happened in like a year. It's much less stressful now, and I feel like I'm breathing easier these days.
