Site Accessibility and Life Things
I spent a lot of time today working on making my site more accessible. I used the WAVE Web Accessibility Evaluation Tool as a guide, but I'm still learning about web accessibility, so my personal evaluation may not be is probably not entirely accurate. Still, I think I've taken great strides in meeting the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), and I hope to keep learning and continue focusing on accessibility as I move forward with this site.
I finally got around to updating the layout for my Hotel Dusk shrine as well, and I was invited to join the Emotion shrine directory by Lethe, whose site is absolutely gorgeous. Please go check it out and succumb to its beauty like I did!
A few other things I've been up to recently:
- Bought a couple more CDs for my collection: Kiss Me There by Jo Davidson and I Ain't Movin' by Des'ree. They're both obscure, so they were quite cheap, and as far as I know you can only purchase them secondhand now.
I'm going to listen through them later. I've heard the Jo Davidson album before because she's a favorite musician of mine, but the Des'ree one will be new to me aside from the track "You Gotta Be," which is by far her most popular song.
- Played three games from the IFComp 2025 list: The Wise-Woman's Dog, Saltwrack, and The Witch Girls. I added two of them to my media log. I'll add Saltwrack soon. They're all fantastically written and constructed in their own unique ways. If you're looking for some good interactive fiction, I highly recommend all three.
I also started Pathologic 3 because I really want to play it, but I'm trying to finish Deep Sleep first. Not that I dislike Deep Sleep, I'm actually having a great time with it, but I've just been waiting for Pathologic 3 for so long!
The cold weather has me wishing for snow. I love winter, but it's 10 times more enjoyable if we actually get to experience snow at some point. Unfortunately, it's increasingly becoming a thing of the past in this part of the world.
Spending a lot of time with Ranni, either cuddling and playing inside or going with her and Danny to the park. She's due for a vet visit soon, and I'm going to ask how we can help her stay calm when it comes to things like loud noises and storms. She gets terrified. She shakes and starts looking for somewhere to hide, and I feel so bad for her, I just want to be able to do something to make her feel better.
Alright, until next time, which will probably be my second digicam photolog! 👋
