Syl's Blog

Plans and Photolog #1

I've been fixated on this site lately. Adding pages and tweaking code here and there, and blogging a lot. It's been a nice creative outlet to sink into and just not think about anything else for a while.

Because I'm even thinking about this blog when I'm not actively working on it, I've been mulling over ideas for 2026, and I've come up with a couple of "series," I guess you could call them, that I want to implement here.

First is something I've kind of already been doing. At the end of each month, I want to post a round-up of all the indie games I've played. There are a few AAA games I'm looking forward to this year (namely, Resident Evil 9, Fatal Frame 2 Remake, Saros, and the new Professor Layton), but I plan to focus on indies, and I think the world always needs more folks to shine a light on them. Those posts will be discoverable and probably posted on my Bluesky as well.

Second is weekly digital camera photologs. I have an old digital camera from 2009: the Panasonic Lumix ZS3. I know being into old digicams is kind of a Gen-Z thing these days, but I miss being more intentional about taking photos and messing with actual buttons and dials to get the look I want, and I'm a Millennial who's not immune to nostalgia.

I have a few photos to post already, so I'll go ahead and make this photolog #1! Some of these were taken a while ago, but a few are fairly recent. I'll aim to post these logs at the end of the week in the future, maybe Fridays or Saturdays.

The first four are just random photos snapped in my parents' backyard last summer. Next is a photo from our wedding reception, followed by two pics of Danny and Ranni, and then a work-in-progress ink sketch of Ranni that I started today (I'm nowhere near an artist but had fun messing around).
