Syl's Blog

Blaugust

I'm going to participate in Blaugust this year, which I'm very excited about! The goal is to write a blog post every day for the month of August, so expect a lot of posts here moving forward, and some of them might be fairly short. The content won't change; I'll be focusing on general life stuff and sometimes games or music.

I took Ranni for a walk earlier today, and we splashed around in a creek. Here are a couple of photos from that, including some little shroomies I found (I think these might be marasmius rotula, but I'm very new to mycology!):

I also did a Grow with Jo workout on YouTube. My other big goal this month is to workout every day. I'll try to use this blog to hold myself accountable and keep track of that. I'm lucky to work from home, but I sit at my desk all day, and I want to start getting more exercise and movement in.

Currently Playing: Fields of Mistria - Very similar to Stardew Valley but with lots of quality-of-life improvements, like the ability to jump and to save at any time via a journal in your home. The NPCs also feel more fleshed out, with tons of dialogue, and the writing is great. I'm really enjoying it!

Currently Listening To: Still obsessed with the Kathy Rain 2 soundtrack and I also have Cammie Beverly's House of Grief on heavy rotation.

Currently Watching: I'm going to see the new Fantastic Four movie tonight, and I recently watched No One Will Save You, a sci-fi horror film that's light on dialogue. The sound effects and music were fantastic, and I had a good time with this one. It's not a perfect film by any stretch, but it's eerie and a pretty tense ride throughout. I had to consult the Wikipedia page to confirm some of the more confusing aspects of the plot, but I liked it. Maybe 3.5/5 stars?

I'm not watching anything series-wise and honestly rarely am these days. I want to watch season 2 of Dan da Dan and check out See You Tomorrow at the Food Court, maybe.

Current Plans/Goals: Tomorrow I'm going to a water park with family, so that should be fun. I've never been to a water park before, but I love swimming and just being in water (it's the Pisces in me), so I'm looking forward to it. At the end of September, I'll cross an item off my bucket list by going to Universal Studios during Halloween Horror Nights! Those are my only real plans for the rest of the year, besides trying to get some hiking and wild swimming in, especially before the summer is over. There's also an exhibit at the local art museum that I'd like to see.

Goals are to budget better, drink plenty of water, and workout every day this month. Hopefully I can stick to them!
