Ambient Music
I've been getting into ambient music lately. It's great as background music while I'm working, but I also love giving it my full attention and falling into different soundscapes. I thought I'd share some of my favorite ambient tracks in case anyone is interested, so here's a little playlist for you:
- "S.I.E.R.R.A." by Isabel del Bosco - Chill but upbeat, gives me Stardew Valley vibes
- "Slayer" by Jogging House - Mellow, subdued, beautiful drone music
- "The Way of Time" by Biosphere - Biosphere is a heavy hitter in the ambient scene. I love how textured his songs are.
- "Clouds Are Relatives (The Bug - Amtrak Dub Mix)" by Harvestman - If you want some metal in your ambience, look no further than Harvestman.
- "The Seasons (ft. Leech)" by René Najera - I feel like this would be a great song for a hike or a long walk, or even a run. It has a nice steady beat and nature vibes.
- "Love On A Real Train" by State Azure - Leans a little more electronica but still very atmospheric
- At The River by Groove Armada - I feel like everybody knows Groove Armada. They're a bit more trip-hop than ambient, but their songs still work for when you just want to escape into sound.
- "Verdant Street" by Daniel Kobylarz - This is from the Kathy Rain 2 soundtrack, which has some great ambient tracks and is my current go-to album.
- "Village in the Mist" by Mountain Realm - Dungeon synth vibes that would make a great backdrop for a D&D campaign
I also discovered Hearts of Space thanks to my local NPR station, which is a collection of ambient music (a lot of it by Steve Roach) that you can listen to in your browser. If you sign up for free, you can listen to the weekly show up to four times and browse 30-second clips of the entire library. It's a good way to find new ambient music.
